In co-operation with the City of Subotica, Local democracy Agency in Subotica, organized a series of public events in the main city square to mark Europe Day with the information campaign for citizens. Main activities were held on the 9th of May and the programme included outdoor exhibition of promotion publications and materials, information campaign organized by the youth volunteers.

Since 2005., LDA Subotica is organizing the program of marking the Day of Europe, in cooperation with the local government through thematic conferences and EU information days. Every year during the first week in May open public events are organized in the main city square: exhibitions of EU posters, stalls in open air, promotional campaign involving young volunteers.

Every year on 9th of May the European Union is commemorating one of its most important founding events: The Schuman Declaration of 9th May 1950, in which the French foreign minister Schuman presented his plan for closer cooperation between European countries. Local democracy Agency in Subotica has implemented a project Serbia in EU, improving European and democratic attitude organizing 6 round tables for different target groups and celebrating Day of Europe 9th of May. The project was financed by Fund for open society and the Institute for sustainable communities (ISC) and it last from 21st March until 9th May 2008. |
