Every year on 9th of May the European Union is commemorating one of its most important founding events: The Schuman Declaration of 9th May 1950, in which the French foreign minister Schuman presented his plan for closer cooperation between European countries. The LDA Subotica took it as an opportunity to celebrate and promote European Integration as well. Diverse activities will take place on the town square next to the City-hall in Subotica…

On the square of dr Zoran Djindjic in Subotica on 9th of May Local democracy agency organised public event, promoting the European cultural heritage, ideas and EU institutions. On the square vocal volunteers and one EVS volunteer spared promo materials related to the EU to gathered citizens and passers-by, who also participate in a youth quiz and similar actions. On the official opening of the stands present were representatives of R. of Croatian and Hungarian consulate’s as well as representatives from the embassy in Bulgaria with head quaters in Belgrade.

In the evening hours citizens enjoyed in screening of documentary film "Taxi to the Dark Side" and "The English Surgeon, " in the amphitheatre of the Open University, while the concert "Nežni Dalibor”, one of the most popular bands of the modern Serbian scene, held from 22:30 in local club Bash kuca.

On Sunday on 10th of May official programme Celebration of the Day of Europe continued with screening of a documentary film: "Vote for Me" and "Ghosts of Cite Soleil".

Entrance to all events was free.

Europe Day celebration organized by the city of Subotica, in cooperation with the Centre for Local Democracy, FOCUS Foundation for youth culture and art, European Film Festival Palic, Festival Free Zone, the Fund for the nonprofit sector Authonomus Province of Vojvodina.
