SERBIA IN EUROPEAN UNION (CELEBRATION OF THE DAY OF EUROPE) PDF Print E-mail

Local democracy Agency in Subotica has implemented a project Serbia in EU, improving European and democratic attitude organizing 6 round tables for different target groups and  celebrating Day of Europe 9th of May. The project was financed by Fund for open society and the Institute for sustainable communities (ISC) and it last from 21st March until 9th May 2008. 

It was framed as a local campaign with lot of media and street activity on the main squire in Subotica, then in the nearest local community Backa Topola and in surrounding villages. Programme of the celebration the Day of Europe consist of participation of 300 children drawing the symbols of European Union on the main squares, then participation around 100 pupils’ ten years old, played The European games, managed by members of United Games.

With the support of United Kingdom’s, France’s, Italian, Polish, German, Bugarish, Finland’s and Austrian embassy in Belgrade, and Hungarian and Croat consulates based in Subotica LDA Subotica has organised European desk in the city centre, on which during the whole afternoon citizens could got promotional materials from different countries form EU. 

In the City hall Vestibule it was organized exhibition of European posters and in the evening hours on the main city squire citizens could enjoy in laser animations which in combination with music provided the symbols, tradition and the spirit of all European cities.
